I don't actually have traffic on my blog yet, but im trying blog lists, word of mouth, and praying to God.

Hi Upton,

You might want to use commenting on blogs that has a lot of traffic. Its even better if you are the first commentor, you will see a lot traffic coming to your blog. Then you will have to capture their name and email if you have auto-responder.

Then you can email them to come to your blog again.

There are different perspective on traffic exchange.

For me, its informing your list about another blogger. The other blogger will do likewise. Telling your list a review of the other blog. This must be done at the same time and the same number of list.

Second way is to do a link exchange with some blogger that has almost the same number of traffic as you.

It will help when you have a lot of traffic or list under you. But it can still be done when you are new and do not have lots of traffic yet, just that do not have good result.

This is a great question and one I've wondered about myself. The only way I've found to generate traffic is shameless self promotion. Leaving quality comments on others' posts I enjoy has been a good way - and something I would do anyway.

I've also done spotlights to try to get some readers who might be interested in seeing the results.

I know giveaways are a great way - but it seems like you have to already have a following in order for a giveaway to be successful.

So, yes, I'm very interested in the responses to this question, also!

You are correct that giveaway will be getting traffic.

Yes you are right that I want to capture leads, for my blog.

That is why a lot of bloggers failed in the first place,
is to capture leads.

For all bloggers out there, your first priority is to write
content, second is to drive traffic, third is to capture
leads.

If you can just do the above three, you will see success
very soon.
