Well. Hard work is the obvious answer. But that's not the answer you're looking for...

It depends what kind of traffic you want. If you just want anyone, then just go ahead and spam your blog (you seem to be off to a good start ). Apart from that, unique content is the best way to get 1000 visitors a day. By writing great articles you won't get 1000 visitors tomorrow, but you surely will by this time next year. Great writing builds backlinks which builds traffic.

As Jessemn said: quality unique content and a slow approach to building links will get you traffic. It takes time and effort - there are no easy ways to get traffic from my experience.

So true, it's all about building up a steady stream of content. We just rebooted our site so for the next year or so we're not expecting a huge amount of traffic. Although, we have been "live" for only 3 days and we're already generating at least 600 hits a day... I attribute that to what we're covering though.

Are you sure that topics like software testing and SQL are so popular that there are thousands of people each day searching for it?
You ma check the volume using Wordtracker for example, but this costs now.

Your sites have a very narrow focus. I don't know if they can get 1000 visits per day.

Not all can.
