My blog which is focused on the entrepreneurship/small business segment is different because: 1. High quality articles from real life experiences over (400+ articles) 2. Reviews (Book reviews, product reviews, website reviews) I guess these two points have really helped me develop an ever increasing following. |

I have to say that it is to blog or write to your own experience, sharing it to the internet world, this will make you unique from others. I must agree that a lot of people has been writing the same thing (me included), but as long as you write in according to your experience and engage the readers, you are getting there soon. Of course you have some cutting edge news on your niche and not a lot people knows about it, blog it! The one who takes the news first will get the traffic most, after that is to do some off page optimization to make sure you stay in that position. You can go to my seminar event blog, its 2 months old (previously from wordpress.com), they experiences from different people who attended seminars. Of course if you want to write as a guest blogger, I welcome you to write on seminar reviews. |

I would concentrate on one blog in a day, and take a look at other blog another day, by rotation.

What sets my blog apart is it talks to you with a free widget I'm giving away at iSpeech.org It podcasts your RSS feed. Some things I like on other people's blogs though are interactive things like polls, I like knowing my opinion matters. I'm also a sucker for anything that makes me laugh! Anything that flashes or pops up in the middle of the screen will make me close the page immediately.Btw I'm a Cyrus too! |

For my blog I always keep a mailing list (ie. Earn Passive Income Online: 6-Step Blueprint to 6-Figure Residual Income). I occasionally run giveaways and contests (list your giveaway or contest on http://www.tectonicdesigns.com to get the word out). I always think of ways to provide value to my readers - that way they will refer my blog to other people and keep reading it. Thanks, Steve |

I have been wondering the same thing. Is it the length or shortnes of posts that attracts people - apart from the content. My blog has 2-300 word posts on average which I think is okay but there again, I am not trying to attract myself! I get anything from 100 - 300 page views a day - is this about average?? |

For my hotels blog, I have inserted Maps by creating a map at Google Maps, with place markers, and blog post links, images, and even ads within the dialog boxes. This has brought visitors to the blog. The content includes tips and ideas from my own and family/friends experience. Also get ideas by signing up to Google alerts, with relevant search terms, which are emailed daily. But I do a lot of keyword research to try find popular search and relevant terms to include in the post, as Hotel blogs/sites/agencies are very competitive in New Zealand.

If you're not putting out unique content (i.e. breaking new news stories), then the only way you can separate yourself from others is by working harder and by writing with a unique, spunky voice. You can also out-perform other by marketing more effectively. By working harder, I mean pushing yourself to really, really produce top-notch content. Instead of writing Top 10 lists with one line of description each, write Top 20 lists with a paragraph of content each. Since your content never disappears, that'll pay off in the long run.
