My list of favorite widgets, or hacks

Just figured I'd share my bookmarks... These are a few tools (widgets, scripts etc.) which really helped me when I started my blog :

1) Make favicon
2) Designing an header with Photoshop
3) Make a scrollbox
4) Dropdown menues
5) Put smiley in comments (blogger)
6) Picture slideshow (and also the Flickr widget)

Hi Zhuli,

Great little list for people just starting out. I can't stress enough how much a header says alot about your blog. Is it generic or did they make the time to put an addon or extra's to their blog? Also a header is the first thing they see so it can be the difference between someone taking the time to read what you have to say or just closing the window and moving on. A flavicon is also a good idea. Great way to help people identify your site when looking in bookmarks. I have one for Bloggeries but not for the forum. I should probably get on it.

I like the mybloglog widget and tag-boards. You could chat with your readers with this tag-board and it's really cool.
