I don't want to open a new thread for this question. Hopefully it's relevant to this thread as well.

My question: How do I add shinystats or any hit counter to self hosted WordPress blog? Which file do I edit? index.php or others? I don't want it in my sidebars, I prefer it to be in the "content" section. Do you guys actually embed the hit counter javascript on WordPress or how?

I use both sitemeter and google analytics. Sitemeter is fast, updates immediately and gives good summary. Google analytics is delayed by a day or two, but has amazing analysis capabilities
