Default is your blog proxified

So not long ago a new techiniqe has been developped that may kill your search engine rankings and since it is not very rare that you compete against spammers for a certain keyphrase you need to protect your rankings because search engines won't. The technique is very easy the attacker proxify your blog and google will drop your site from the rankings or place into the supplemental index from the main.

How do you know that your site is proxified?

All you need to do is to visit for instance google.com and start a searching query this way
Quote:
intitle:"place here a phrase that occures in your title tag and peculiars to your site"
. Of course you need to check the returning results. Recognising a proxy link is not a big challange.

My directory was also attacked this way so i needed to hunt up a solution and finally after many hours i could compile a php script. With the help of a system administrator a WordPress plugin was created as well, which help to fight against spammers.
You may download it from my blog.

Sorry for the self promotion that was not my intention.

Thanks for sharing Bagi,

Is this the type of plugin that makes it impossible to right click as to steal the content? How do these spammers normally go about proxifying a site?

Rob, sadly i not really able to give you a proper question since i am not a spammer and haven't proxified any websites. My best guess is that someone visit a given website via proxy server and place links pointing to the proxy generated url hence search engines may pick it up easily. When i recognised i tried to launch searches with the sting contains the proxy URLs but haven't found any.

Relating the right click content protection i would suggest you to use this javascript code to disable the quickmenu. If i will have some free time i will try to create a script that will cloack the bad robots that may steal your content as well. Some protection script has been already available but i want something superelegant

Hi PaulR i glad that i had the opportunity to contribute for some minutes

Rob, i found a much better solution for you
Quote:
<script language="JavaScript">

isIE=document.all;
isNN=!document.all&&document.getElementById;
isN4=document.layers;

if (isIE||isNN){
document.oncontextmenu=checkV;
}else{
document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN || Event.MOUSEUP);
document.onmousedown=checkV;}

function checkV(e){
if (isN4){
if (e.which==2||e.which==3){

return false;
}}else{

return false;}}

</script>
Insert this short javascript into the head section of the template file or call it from an external js and nobody will have the possibility to access the right click function.
