I've got the code:

<link href="http://modified.cars-blog.net/favicon.ico" rel="shortcut icon" />

in the header.php of my theme for modified.cars-blog.net. It works in FireFox but not in IE.

That uses Wordpress why dont you just use the Favicon head plugin?

Works fine in both FF and IE.
