It depends what blogging platform you're using - some platforms have an option to set the post status as 'private' or password protected. I think with Blogger you have to set permissions for the whole blog, not individual posts, but this may have changed since I used it; WordPress lets you put a password on certain posts; and Majestic CMS lets you set different areas of your site to have certain user permissions... and so on.
