Twitter has been awesome for me. Once you get a good amount of HUMAN followers, it's like a broadcasting medium. Use Twitter as a TOOL and don't abuse it. Bloggeries suggestion of writing guest blogs posts on sites that are already established in your niche is probably the single most important thing I have done. Some of the advantages include:

Sure, it sucks when you write a great article and publish it on someone else's site, but I think in the end justifies the means.

Other than that, bust your ass and write great, original content which adds value to the web instead of writing the same garbage that already exists.
