The widget is still on my site, but I do not actively drop. If I come across a card stumbling I'll click, but I don't go out of my way.

I don't really care about my site value. Since I stopped dropping, my traffic has increased. I don't think it caused the increase, but it just shows that it really isn't so bad.

Entrecard has sort of settled into a system where the chain dropping just attracts the same people. There is a small core of people who chain drop on each other to boost up their Alexa values and site prices, and a huge number of people who do not bother to drop cards.

I know some pretty good sized sites with prices below 30ec.

Entrecard is great for when you start, but doesn't do much as you get bigger. The time it takes to drop cards doesn't get you much in terms of traffic if you are getting over 1,000 visitors a day. (less than that probably)

I actually did a test comparing the traffic and quality of traffic I get dropping cards compared to taking the same time to write a good post and getting it stumbled. It is no contest.

Dropping cards is time which could be better spent on other things. I suggest dropping cards seriously for two weeks if you launch a blog, then back off.
