I have noticed that this year a few of the free press release sites that I had listed previously now have a fee associated with posting releases. I'll remove these as I find them.
I should mention that most of the free press release sites do also offer an enhanced option where they will let you put extra backlinks to your sites for a fee.
In evaluating the worth of these you should consider a few things:- What's the PR of the press release site?
- Will they let you place a keyword rich anchor link? or just a link? That matters a lot.
- Are the back links in the body or just the footer? A link in body of the press release is more powerful.
- A paid press release is more likely to be picked up by other news sites and RSS feeds.
- How quick do you want to get to the top? Patience is a virtue some times, but not when you need to get a product in your customers eyes quickly.
Another thing I should add is that when submitting the same press release to many free press release sites, try and edit the title and the keywords in the body of the press release slightly so that Google does not pick it up as duplicate content.
Also, since I do own a web design and business marketing company, if you needs a free press release submitted, I would be happy to help you with that.
Thanks
