Many people that enjoy blogging enjoy reading blogs as well and the two past-times often go hand in hand. If you are looking for something fun to add to your reading list, you may want to check out the latest personal blog that Bloggeries is reviewing – the Irrelevant Title. That is to say, the name of the blog is The Title is Irrelevant… Or is it?. The blogger asks in his header, ‘The title is irrelevant…or is it?’ I am sure readers of the blog each have their own opinion to that answer as this is a blog on a little bit of everything, and some of nothing, but is very well done nonetheless. The blogger’s name is Gary, his purpose in life is to make people laugh and here he says you will find some of the most hilarious pieces of modern literature ever written. Or – the most awful piece of garbage. Gary doesn’t really care how you opine on his blogging, he’s going to do it anyway. Get a feel for the nothingness of this blog through any of his recent bloggeries: How Cool are You? Take This survey and find out!, Weird Phobias, Classmate Speech Evaluation, Words of Consolation, Nothing but Stupid…., My crazy story Pt.2, Why I Hate Making Phone Calls, If You Could Interview God…., Global Warming – The Silent Killer, and Some Toilet Humor.
Navigation on the blog is very simple and straightforward. Posts are left marginalized and there is a right navigation bar. Bloggeries are black text on white background with blue border and various shades of blue color theme with corresponding links in blue. In the right navigation system you will find an About page, Links menu, Previous Posts menu, and Archives Menu going back to September 2007. Bloggeries are written in essay format in the sense that each bloggery is fairly lengthy, it is clear this blogger is very dedicated to his writing. Some of the bloggeries contain relevant pictures, though the blog is more text than it is visual material. The content is well done, and appears in a strong personal voice matching the personal blog niche of this site. And overall the blog is a good read, you will smile, chuckle, and enjoy the tone of the blog. For me, it reminded me of a running series of Seinfeld episodes – humorous tales of pretty much nothing but you laugh nonetheless.
I will go with a 4 for this one, the blogger seems to be doing well on all counts. The content is well written and speaks to the audience, and the blog is fairly active as well. Currently bloggeries are coming in almost every day or every couple of days at most. Navigation on this blog is very easy. I might suggest a categories menu, but it may be difficult with the nature of this blog. However categories in keyword friendly terms may bring the blogger more traffic if he labels each of his posts with keywords. The blog is definitely unique, and definitely sustains the readers attention. I would suggest perhaps adding more pictures to the blog to make it more aesthetically pleasing, or to shorten up some of the posts. The bloggeries are fairly lengthy and it gives the blog a very texty look to it and for Internet readers, it may be difficult to stay on board with some of the posts. However, overall, this is a very good blog for one that has only been around for a few months and is well worth a coffee breaks read if you are looking for a good chuckle.

Here is a blog that you will enjoy bookmarking for your morning coffee break or for whenever you just need a good chuckle. The blog is called Invading Holland. The blog is the story of one accident prone Englishman who is ‘unexpectedly leading the invasion of Holland’. You may think you know what that means, but you won’t truly get it until you spend some time on the blog. The blogger is an Englishman in his late 20’s who moved to Holland in 2001 and while he once worked in theater, his serious aspirations were to become a Ghostbuster. He is currently working in the computer gaming industry, which you can see is reflected in the blog appearance. Get a feel for this quirky author by checking out his recent bloggeries: Robodock 2007, The Unintentional Question Effect, Bubble Bath, London Visit, Jimmy the Spider: A Children’s Story; Quote of the Week: Onions; Mismatch (a bloggerie about socks); Charlie?; and How to Confuse a Dutch Person.
Navigation on this blog is extremely simple and easily laid out. Bloggeries are in black text on a pale blue background with a darker blue border. The header is appealing and contains some cartoons drawn by the blogger as well as a top navigation bar for the blog, profile, and a stunning photo gallery. In the right navigation system you will see the blogger has had 23000 visits and 23 subscribers, which, if I had not seen 23 last night would not seem odd to me. You will also find a Best Post Menu here, Recent Posts Menu noted as “Previously”, Archives Menu, Blogroll sorted by Country, links, credits, and a very healthy Categories Menu. In the categories you will find topics such as Accident Prone, Cartoons, Daily Life, Drunkness, Dutch Culture, Funny True Stories, and so much more. You will also find here the ownership information of all of the cartoons on the site that have been created by the author. I also urge you to check out the photo gallery for some pictures that are both stunning and impressive. I am not sure if the blogger is a professional photographer or not, as you can not determine this from the quality of the photos. Each post contains its own separate quirky cartoon, but I like how these unique photos are separated into their own gallery.
I give this one overall a 4.5/5 with my only complaint being that it really needs more frequent updating. I found myself laughing out loud at many of the posts, and if you read “Charlie?” and its corresponding comment roll, you will know what I mean. The blog could use a search feature and a contact us page! I’d like to contact the author but have no way that I could find. The content is simply spectacular both in its writing style which engages the reader and in its artistry. The readership is impressive, and you can see how the current readership is connected to the blogger through the large assortment of comments within every post. The appearance is nothing less than professional / outstanding and is definitely aesthetically appealing and matches the quirkiness of the blog. I definitely recommend this to those of you that love a good chuckle as this one certainly got a subscription from me.

If you are looking for a weird site, well, then I sure as heck have one for ya. It is called HodgedUp and they are calling themselves the coolest community. Of what, you ask? Hmmm….I am still trying to figure that one out. The blog is described as a collection of unique and funny articles, videos, and funny pictures. They were self-described as something different or twisted to laugh at. Well, I wasn’t really laughing when I was going through here, and seemingly, I wasn’t reading any articles either. In fact, this website does not even look like a blog at all. Some blogs disguise their blog status well, however this one was very strange. It has all the looks of a major online community, but lists only 3 members. Perhaps you have to register to take full advantage of the blog, but then, is it really a blog if that is the case? At any rate, I didn’t register, the few tidbits I got on the page were not enough to make me go that length. I did see some odd videos though, odd is a better word for me than twisted, but again, twisted is in the eye of the beholder. These videos included: “Kelly Clarkson joins Metal Skool with her friend Jack Daniels, David Hasselhoff – Hooked on a Feeling, Dave the Hoff Hasselhoff – Jump in my Car, and Chris Daughtry Singing Plush.
What can I say about Navigation? I just flat out did not understand this site. When you are browsing the videos you will see a browse links menu, and here you will find links such as “Zodler the Virtual Sim Baby”, and Free Online Games. The Top navigation bar contained links to My Desktop (AKA Home), My Contacts (the 3 members of the community), Search Blogs, Inkspot, Media, Login, Register, and a Help button. I don’t really know how recent the blog is, or if it is even used, the front page seemed to change while I was in the process of roaming and navigating, so I am going to guess it is pretty recent. The right navigation bar has a login section for members, as well as some AdSense code. In the bottom navigation bar there are pics of the blog members listed as “random members” but you will notice they are the same ones that appear in the “My Contacts” link. There is a search bar for members here, and also a menu for “Important References” such as Tell/Invite a Friend, Contact Us, Report Abuse, Bookmark Us, and their Privacy Policy as well as Terms of Use. It is links such as this that lead me to wonder how big this site may be behind the registration, but again, I just could not be bothered as they did not give me enough to whet my appetite.
I am going with a 1.4 here, and I think this is fairly generous. Bloggeries has never given a 1 before but I can’t give them a 2. I just did not know what was going on with this site outside of a collection of assorted celebrity videos. I did not see much “twisted” humor or articles, or bloggeries – this leaves the content marks in the dust. Navigation WOULD be simple I think if I knew what this blog was about. It is certainly unique, but I can’t even give anything activity marks as nothing has date stamps on it. If this site is expecting a high registration, it really needs to fix these major issues, or I think it is just going to keep floating around aimlessly in cyberspace. Until it does, that is probably just as well.

Take a minute to pop into PLOOP. As I type this my text editor keeps re-formatting it to say plop, so I have had to actually add the word to my dictionary, or, as ploop would call it, my plooptionary. What is ploop? Well for starters, points on creativity are huge, and at this point I have only spent a few minutes on the site. I could never adequately explain them differently than they have, “The quest for nonsense in the world of business, politics, TV and life is never-ending for ploop, we will leave no stone unturned in exposing the flim-flam, **ploop bleep** and the smokes and mirrors…..We may be cynical but we’re not without vanity.” The opening line on the blog header is “Unearthing idiocy in the world of business, politics, and TV – the glass is never half full”. So now I’ve riddled the first section of my review with quotes, but there is no more accurate means to convey the message of ploop and what it really is. It is drivel (self-proclaimed I must add), idiocy, and really, it is just ploop. It is exactly what it claims to be, and although a little weird at first, I think anyone can be drawn to it if you are looking for some well-written fluff.
When you first get onto the site, recent bloggeries will bring you first to a review of
Paris Hilton’s behind. Scrolling down you find graphic representations on the relationships between a short skirt and the relevancy of your mind on your boyfriends appreciation radar. By that I mean graphic, as in, both an x and a y axis. You will then be drawn to a drawing of a series of Venn Diagrams trying to indicate relationships on uh….rodents? I think? The blog then takes you to a review on the current debate hitting the Internet waves about bloggers making nice in cyberspace. On the right side you will find their archives, or what they call “Past Drivel”, a series of other blogs they qualify as “decent” and a list of links you might find interesting such as Answers needed, great quotes, and a slew of other ploopism links.

I am going with almost 5 here, my nearest to perfect review thus far. Content is spectacular, the writing is very well done. For a site that is self-proclaimed idiocy, it really is, but as I have mentioned you are drawn to it. The site does what it purports to. Uniqueness, well, just take a look at those Venn’s again. WEIRD but cool. Activity points are large as well with as many as 2 posts a day, which I have yet to come across in my reviews. The appearance is good, it looks very bloggy but in this case I think it merits that as it really is just a rambling of many things and that is the traditional use of the blog. The graphics are very very well done and fit in well with the overall theme of the blog. The only appearance comments I would have is to fill up more of the bottom right hand side of the page with – something – maybe ad sense or article links as the site warrants more content. Currently the space is blank and as I was drawn to the site, I would further be drawn to other links if they were added. This could monetize the blog a little bit more. Otherwise what can I say, it’s Ploop! You have to see it to believe, and appreciate ploop for what it really is. Visit it once and I bet you’ll be visiting it again!
