rate3 Zest Life Health and Fitness Blog! Be Your Best! Bloggeries ReviewIf you ever need to take a moment and just regroup for a second, I recommend that you bookmark the “Zest Life Blog” as a quickie “time out” during the work day, or any day really. This blog is called Zest for Life and is not just a blog, it also offers a host of other links and useful information. The purpose of the blog is to share insights into “creating Zest Life” and the author, J.D. Ramsay wishes this to be a sort of Zest Café platform for ideas exchange, thoughts sharing and a means to enhance your energy, health, and vitality. He offers Zest Life Strategies towards a happier, healthier, and more prosperous life. You can see this in just the first few recent postings: Choose your Life; Change your Life in One Hour; Lose Weight and Feel Great with Safe “Ex”; Why you have to Love your Fears; Instant Gratification, Happiness, and You; Healthy Environmental Choices for Life, Creating Healthy Immunity and Lifestyles, and a list of Favorite Blog Sites.

zl logo3 Zest Life Health and Fitness Blog! Be Your Best! Bloggeries Review This blog is fairly new so navigation is very simple. At the top menu, take a minute to look around and get a feel for the Zest Life philosophy. You will read about the Zest Life Foundation, Resonance, Fitness, Lifestyle, and Health. The overall layout is very simple, which lends to the simplicity of the philosophies J.D. is trying to convey. Standard black text on white background with some color on the menu bar and the right sided navigation bar is in a very soothing light aqua color. Posts are left marginalized, and there is a right sided navigation bar with a search menu, and About box, an archive box, and a listing of the recent posts.

I am going to give this blog a 3, but I think this site and it’s “youth” are the only thing impeding a large readership. The content on this site is excellent, and very well written, J.D. is clearly an expert in the field. Navigation is simple and uniqueness scores very high as well. I would suggest adding some pictures to some of the post just to make them pop a little bit. I would also suggest adding a categories menu to the right navigation bar. I think there are enough topics in the niche to warrant it. Also if you research the categories correctly you can start getting good blog search engine traffic and normal search engines are more likely to pick up the threads if they are in appropriate categories. The titles are catchy and the content well-done that making the posts stand out should not be a difficult task. I think if the site develops a good readership some mild advertising would probably do very well for monetizing the site as well. The posts also need to be a little more frequent to maximize traffic to the blog and also to establish credibility with the readers. Right now there is about 8 posts between January and present on the front page. Posting a few more times a week may make a significant difference to the blog traffic. Otherwise, as I suggest, a highly recommended blog with some very useful food for thought. Consider it as relaxing as a glass of wine at the end of the day.

Health Over 50 – Health Information for Seniors – Bloggeries Review

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

rate3 Health Over 50 Health Information for Seniors Bloggeries ReviewIf you are over fifty and looking for a source of health information on the Internet, make sure you bookmark Health Over 50, an all inclusive guide to health beyond the age of fifty. This site is geared towards both men and women and provides a wealth of information on just about any topic related to the after50 health category. Recent posts include How Effectively Can you Make Use of the Existing Women’s Health Services, Do You Snore and Sleep on Your Back, Cancer of the Prostate Gland, How Avoiding Women’s Health Symptom Diagnosis can Lead to More Lurking Dangers, Heart Disease – A Brief Overview, and Growths in the Prostate just to name a few. The site has been around since October 2005 and covers just about any health related issue to the after fifty crowd.

Navigation is very simple on this site, as it is designed very informally. There is simple black text on white background and a host of products available to you if you are looking for anti-aging products or herbal remedies to common ailments. There is even a link to get to a matchmaker’s site if you consider yourself to be “on the market”. The site is not divided into categories, but on the right handed navigation bar you can search through the archives to find what you might be looking for. The pictures that accompany posts such as “Prostate Growths” are comprehensive and user friendly. The content itself even with its strong medical basis is also very readable, and easy to understand for the layperson.

I am going to go with a 2.6 for this site, but there are some very quick changes that can be made to bring this review up a few notches. The categories section is too broad, there is only one category. The site is very comprehensive and covers a wide range of topics. I think if the owner was able to break things down a bit and put posts into groupings, it would be easier for the readers to find what they are looking for. For example, if I wanted information on osteoporosis, currently I would have to search the archives. This is time consuming and many readers do not want to go to that trouble. Possible category suggestions would be anti-aging medicine, herbal products, snoring, women’s health, cancers, osteoporosis, men’s health issues, coronary heart disease, and so on. I think each of these topics is relevant to the site topic, as does the owner as there is information on each of these items in the blog somewhere. Grouping things together would organize this site much more effectively and make it much easier to read. I would also consider adding more pictures to the posts just to give it a friendlier appeal. If there is a post on anti-aging medication, perhaps highlight a product that is currently using advertising space. Further, I think some AdSense would do very well for this site and currently there is none available. Overall however, this site is content rich, well-researched, and the writing is very easy to follow and enjoyable to read. I would love to see a few changes added and then review it again. This is a HOT topic and the site could do fabulously if it was monetized a little bit better.

Diet – Weight Loss – Health and Fitness Blog – Bloggeries Review

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007
Diet Blog Bloggeries ReviewIf you have any interest at all in dieting, and I mean, in this day and age who doesn’t! I recommend you take a look into a Diet Blog that contains the journalings of a self-proclaimed fat geek. Meet the author, pseudonymed “I am a Fattie”. Here is someone who has struggled with the overweight issue all of their life. The author states an apathy about that on a personal level, but has reached out to the dieters of the world with a wealth of information that is much more than the do’s and don’ts of dieting for dummies. You will see posts on weight loss surgery, diet pill product reviews, ab workouts, how to use a fitness ball, and a personal favorite of mine, the wrinkle free diet! There are also snippets in there that that provide significant food for thought, such as “How I beat Anorexia” and “Alchohol Makes Fruit Healthier – or Does it?” Not often you find blog posts that make you say “wow…” out loud. You will also find a banquet of diets for your eating pleasure on this site, and trust me, there really IS something for everyone here whether you are strictly dieting, just watching what you eat or considering weight loss surgery!

Navigation is very easy on this site. The opening page has posts centered down the page. On the left you can read about the author, get some congee recipes (YUM!), and peruse some advertising. On the right you will find a host of dieting categories that will feed your fancy on every topic from Lipo to its polar opposite, Get Big. There is an abs diet, an author’s diet, real life diet stories, supplements information, daily logs, burn fat, and so much more. You will also see some more advertising, the blog roll, and if you are having such a good time there, why not subscribe as a reader to the blog. The font looks good, and the colors are simple, which is great because the overall graphics do not deter from the mainstay of the site. There are plenty of appropriate pictures with every post and throughout the blog. This site leaves no fork unturned.

I am going to give this site a 3.3 for now as I think it needs some format changes. The advertising is just a bit distracting. I think maybe formatting the colors of the graphics around the AdSense will make it blend in a little bit more. The distraction is unfortunate because the content of the site is spectacular, well written, and very well informed and it deserves more recognition than it is probably getting. I also noticed a few grammatical errors, which also detracts from a very well researched blog post. However, a spell checker can fix that in a jiffy. Further, I would suggest the posts be broken down into sections, or broken down and written on separate days. The posts are very long, and while informative, may cause potential viewers to just scroll through the site instead of enjoying its content rich quality. Breaking down the posts could easily make this a daily blog, as the posts are only coming in every few days at this point. Just a few formatting and technical variations will make this an outstanding diet blog that I think people will line up for faster than the buffet line on Mother’s Day.
