The Disability Blog – Review

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

rate3 The Disability Blog ReviewShould you ever have any questions about Social Security Disability in the United States, you may want to check out The Disability Blog. where you will find a blog on disability matters from former claims specialist and blogger Tim Moore. Have a look at any of his recent bloggeries to see if your inquiries can be answered here: Social Security Disability – Kansas City Star article; Social Security Disability Las Vegas – KSL News; Waiting for Social Security Disability; Interesting News from Fed Blog; Disability Statistics from a UPI article; Social Security Disability in Indianapolis; Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid; Disability Increasing Faster Among Women, Bipolar Disability, Can you Receive Social Security Disability and Veterans Benefits; and Disability Judges Being Added?.

Navigation on this blog is very simple and straightforward. Posts are right marginalized with black text on white background and there is a left navigation system. The left navigation bar contains archives linked by individual date, recent posts menu, and a small about me spot. The blog does not contain much other than regular postings, so there is very little to navigate here. There are no pictures with the posts and the categories menu is missing as well. I think a blog with this kind of topic is broad enough to include a few categories so that readers could navigate directly to any specific questions they may have that do not fall under the previous posts menu. I also find the archives menu a little bulky by being organized by specific date and it would look much neater if it was organized monthly or even weekly.

I will give this blog a 3, there is very little to offer the readers here other than the bloggeries. I am not sure what the readership is, but the blog could definitely use a blogroll or a related links menu. I also think the blog would be a little more aesthetically appealing if pictures were offered with the content. The writing is very well done, comprehensive, and informative. To add to this, the blog is updated regularly which is always beneficial to any blog’s success. Even in the recent posts there is a wide range of topics covered that serves the readership well. I think these could be organized into categories if readers wish to look at specific topics down the road. The advertising is appropriately incorporated and not at all distracting to the readers so it should monetize the blog nicely. Navigation here is a little bland and simply because there is very little offered other than regular posting. The blog has a unique concept and the keywords are used effectively so with these few changes, I think this blog could do very well.

Fast Weight Loss Tips Blog – Bloggeries Review

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

rate4 Fast Weight Loss Tips Blog Bloggeries ReviewWeight loss is such a huge topic today, there are probably more people that you know that are either on a diet, trying to lose weight, or simply trying to eat better. You may want to recommend Brad Chappel’s Fast Weight Loss blog to him — . Here Brad draws from his own personal experiences to share with you the most effective weight loss tricks. What I like about this blog is Brad highlights in a very well-written fashion the juxtaposition between how easy it is to gain weight, and how difficult it is to lose it. Brad shares with his readers on how the key to get success in life is to keep on learning good things from wherever you get. It does not get much simpler than that, and we could all use a little dose of simple truth now and then. He also makes it well known that winning the race is to be steady and slow, and fast may not always be the best. For example his post “Drinking more water for losing extra weight” is some advice that we could all use, but he offers some excellent alternatives for getting your water intake if you are not a huge water fan. Other posts you will find enlightening are Satisfactory eating with fewer calories, Healthy weight loss foods, Calorie burning exercises, Drinking more water for losing extra weight, How to lose more pounds, More than half of adults in European Union overweight, How to lose love handles tips, weight loss motivational tips, Heavy born infants more likely to be overweight later on, How a glass of apple juice daily will do the trick, and Overweight getting results from exercising.

Navigation on this site is fairly straightforward. Posts are left marginalized, and the additional blog content can be found in the right navigation bar. The blog offers a nice beige background with forest green border, and dark brown text leaving it very easy on the eyes and an enjoyable read. On the right navigation bar, you can subscribe to the feed and check out Brad’s favorite Fast Weight Loss posts including “How to lose Love Handles” and “How to lose 10 pounds in two weeks”, both subjects any weight loss participant would probably jumpt to first. You will also find here a menu of various weight loss blogs, a disclaimer on the medical accuracy of the blog, and a series of standard blog widgets. I wouldn’t mind seeing some categories in this section either, this topic could easily be divided into exercise, diet, goal setting, cardio, yoga, and items of that nature to organize the blog a little bit more. Some pictures would also be a great addition to this blog as currently the posts are standard text, and pictures would definitely spice this one up a bit.

Overall I am going with 3.5 here, and just a few suggestions. The content is well done, even though clearly English is not the first language here. However, this is barely noticeable which to me speaks volumes on the content quality as it is very difficult to get a point across in a tongue different than your own. The posts are fairly frequent, every few days or so. I would suggest to entice his readers a bit more to perhaps include a daily weight loss tip, nothing major just a quip to keep daily active posting. Then perhaps additions of longer articles at the current frequency would balance the blog out excellently. I would also suggest taking AdSense out of every single post, I don’t think it is necessary, and could be a bit distracting. Otherwise, I think this is an excellent blog, as do each of Brad’s 114 readers obviously. I think with just a few tweaks it could be a stunning success. And for a blog that is about personal growth and goal achievement, I think that would be well deserved.

Zest Life Health and Fitness Blog! Be Your Best! – Bloggeries Review

Monday, June 4th, 2007

rate3 Zest Life Health and Fitness Blog! Be Your Best! Bloggeries ReviewIf you ever need to take a moment and just regroup for a second, I recommend that you bookmark the “Zest Life Blog” as a quickie “time out” during the work day, or any day really. This blog is called Zest for Life and is not just a blog, it also offers a host of other links and useful information. The purpose of the blog is to share insights into “creating Zest Life” and the author, J.D. Ramsay wishes this to be a sort of Zest Café platform for ideas exchange, thoughts sharing and a means to enhance your energy, health, and vitality. He offers Zest Life Strategies towards a happier, healthier, and more prosperous life. You can see this in just the first few recent postings: Choose your Life; Change your Life in One Hour; Lose Weight and Feel Great with Safe “Ex”; Why you have to Love your Fears; Instant Gratification, Happiness, and You; Healthy Environmental Choices for Life, Creating Healthy Immunity and Lifestyles, and a list of Favorite Blog Sites.

zl logo3 Zest Life Health and Fitness Blog! Be Your Best! Bloggeries Review This blog is fairly new so navigation is very simple. At the top menu, take a minute to look around and get a feel for the Zest Life philosophy. You will read about the Zest Life Foundation, Resonance, Fitness, Lifestyle, and Health. The overall layout is very simple, which lends to the simplicity of the philosophies J.D. is trying to convey. Standard black text on white background with some color on the menu bar and the right sided navigation bar is in a very soothing light aqua color. Posts are left marginalized, and there is a right sided navigation bar with a search menu, and About box, an archive box, and a listing of the recent posts.

I am going to give this blog a 3, but I think this site and it’s “youth” are the only thing impeding a large readership. The content on this site is excellent, and very well written, J.D. is clearly an expert in the field. Navigation is simple and uniqueness scores very high as well. I would suggest adding some pictures to some of the post just to make them pop a little bit. I would also suggest adding a categories menu to the right navigation bar. I think there are enough topics in the niche to warrant it. Also if you research the categories correctly you can start getting good blog search engine traffic and normal search engines are more likely to pick up the threads if they are in appropriate categories. The titles are catchy and the content well-done that making the posts stand out should not be a difficult task. I think if the site develops a good readership some mild advertising would probably do very well for monetizing the site as well. The posts also need to be a little more frequent to maximize traffic to the blog and also to establish credibility with the readers. Right now there is about 8 posts between January and present on the front page. Posting a few more times a week may make a significant difference to the blog traffic. Otherwise, as I suggest, a highly recommended blog with some very useful food for thought. Consider it as relaxing as a glass of wine at the end of the day.
