If you are looking for a place where you can buy not only unique items, but those that are discounted, you may want to check out Mable’s Shopping Blog. This blog is not just another shopping blog as it offers not only coupons and discounted products, but it also contains a few fun and unique products that you might not find anywhere else. The site then links back to a store where Mable carries a host of items that are extremely unique such as retro and vintage, unique gifts, unique purses, and world of fun. The blog itself also offers many examples of the unique variety of items that Mable is showcasing. You can see this in any of her recent posts: Contest – How I (Wish I) Spent my Summer Vacation, Award Winning Toys, IM IN UR (noun) (verb) ING UR (second noun), Men’s Sunglasses by Dragon, Indoor Clotheslines, 10% off Gus Design Modern Furnishings, and Happy Summer: Get Outside and Stay Cool.
Navigation on the sites is fairly straightforward. If you are looking for something specific from Mable, you will definitely be able to find it here. The site is very colorful with black text on white background and there is a lot of color variations within the text. Posts are left marginalized with a right sided navigation bar. The navigation bar includes a welcome note, archives menu, a space for advertising if you are interested, blogroll, and some banners if you wish to link to her. It also contains a categories menu that is pretty comprehensive for a shopping blog and here you will find clothing and accessories, contests, fun, gadgets, green living, Halloween, holiday green gift guide, all kinds of splurge items, retro items, collectibles, and so many more.
I like the twist this blog has in comparison with other shopping blogs. I enjoyed how the blog offers eco friendly and green items, and how it incorporates contests into the blog. I think the appearance and its bright colors can be toned down, only a smidge though. Activity scores pretty well with posts every couple of days. There hasn’t been activity for almost 2 wks at the time of review, but that is not indicative of standard activity (perhaps a vacation?). I think the content is well written and fun as well and does not just advertise products but also makes lighthearted comments about them as seen in the post on Luxury Remote Control Pool Fun. I also like to see a recent posts menu on blogs, and that was the only thing missing from the navigation marks here. Otherwise, I think this is a fun shopping blog that has a lot to offer but just requires a little tweaking. This one gets a 3.3 from me.

If you are an artist looking for a way to market your work, you may just want to stop into Indie Design Marketing. Here you are going to find a blog that is dedicated to online promotional techniques for independent clothing and accessory designers. The owner, Alexis, offers a daily dose of ideas and inspiration to help your independent artistic business grow. She offers you insight on publicity, building websites, advertising on the Internet, and any other information she feels an independent designer needs to know. You can check out the quality of the information she provides through the recent posts: Promo Opportunities for Indie Designers; Solving the Sizing Dilemma – Jewelry Designers Edition, Solving the Sizing Dilemma; Why the Rich get Richer; Contrast and Conquer; $7 will get you 24 hours worth of Indie-Geared Publicity; Old School Marketing, Meet New School Marketing, and Product Photo Problems from a Bloggers Perspective.
Navigation on this site is very easy. Posts are left marginalized with black text on white background, and links highlighted in blue. There is a right navigation bar where you will find all the blog goods. Read the about page, and check out the archives or subscribe to the feed or email subscription service. The blog has a few categories that may interest the indie-designer, including 101 details, All about publicity, Blog-o-nomics, Can’t miss this, and Get the Sale. There is also a healthy blogroll in the works, which, considering this is a fairly young blog is indicative that marketing efforts are working very well. I did not see any pictures on the blog, given that it is a designer blog, I think that would add an additional element here that would interest the readers.
I will go with a 3.3 here. I like that there is regular content, but am thinking daily content for such a new blog may keep readers a little more hooked. I think the content itself is outstanding and very well written. It also clearly comes from a reliable source as Alexis has done very well herself on the subject matter and is teaching her readers accordingly. She has a good blogroll going which shows her marketing efforts are successful, as do the regular comments she is getting on her posts. Uniqueness and navigation scores are very good as well, as this blog is easy to navigate and offers a fresh perspective on an old topic. I would like to see some pictures to spice up the blog a little bit, but otherwise, this blog is doing very well so far in its youth, and should only expect continued growth and success.

Well girls, if you are a fashion reader, then you want to take some time out for this one. Drop in and say hi to Alexis Dawes at Indie Lust. I love the name, Indie Lust, fashion for girls who want original, not off the rack. And Alexis delivers in this cute little fashion blog that seeks to go outside of the cookie cutter mold of the Gucci loving Vuitton toting trend of today. Alexis has her own unique style, adores jewelry but not skinny models. If you are looking for some unconventional fashion advice that will keep you looking your personal best, you have to pop into Indie Lust. Very cleverly written, her recent posts include: Dear God are you There, it’s Me Alexis; Ooh, La La! Tres Foxy!, I wish I could Embroider Like This; The Brit’s Show me some New Boudoir Vocabulary; Sprechen Zie Girly-Girl Handbag”; So you wanna be a rock star debutante; nature personified, and And the Lust-y for Best Description of a Foxy Dress goes to…..
Navigation on this site is very easy. Posts are left marginalized with black text on white background, and a smattering of very relevant pictures throughout each post. There is a left navigation bar where you can read all about Alexis and her fashion dreams. If you are an indie designer, Alexis also offers a page where you can contact her to get featured on the site. Browse through the Recent Posts menu on this bar, as well as the Categories menu where you will find just about anything you want in a fashion category. This Categories menus is very comprehensive, you can find main categories in Accessories, Clothes, Handbags, Jewelry, and Undies. Each of these categories then contains a series of sub-categories, so you will find belts and hats sections in the accessories category and so on. The blog is updated very frequently, so you will be able to find some indie fashion tidbits in every category, and sub-category.
I will go with a 3.4 for this blog, and mostly just because it is so new, it needs some time to grow with some readership. But the content is there, Alexis writes with a beautiful personal voice that I think her readers will find appealing. The blog is easy to navigate, the concept is unique and set apart from many of the fashion blogs out there, and the appearance is simple yet it gets the point across. The site is extremely comprehensive, and I can’t think of a thing to add to its content. But keep an eye on this one, it is still quite young but I foresee good things happening here.

If you love clothes, then this blog may pique your interest — . Meet Michelle, the owner and author of Chic Armoire that is all about one girl in Central Virginia who is searching for intelligent fashion life on this planet. She has spent her entire life devoted to the world of paper cutting and dressmaking, breathed in the fashion magazines at a very early age, and was foreshadowing Steven Robinson’s LaCoste addiction by wearing one LaCoste polo dress for an interminable length of time. Michelle’s blog contains a host of fashion tidbits here and there, and whatever interest you may have in fashion, you will be sure to find it here. Read her recent posts to see how “deep” she is in: Tears of Joy (over a dress), Go International, Artbag of New York, SJP Bitten (it’s all ANYONE has been talking about this week), Fakes are never in Fashion, Q94 Melissa and Sid, Donatella Rules, June Rag Review Parts 1-3, Web Updates and many more.
Navigation on the site is very simple. The posts are right marginalized and the blog necessities are left marginalized in a navigation bar. The posts are relatively frequent, almost daily with a few exceptions, and the content is very conversational which suits this niche. There are plenty of pictures to satisfy fellow fashionistas as well. The left navigation bar contains her fashion story in the About Me section, as well as a host of fashion blogs to visit, recent posts menu, archives menu, and the Categories AKA “Everything in its Place” menu. If you are looking for something specific, you will find it in its place and the categories include accessories, the addict, banana republic, beauty, bliss, bumble and bumble, clothing, coach, fug girls, JCrew, mistakes, money, press, rags, RVA Fashionista, smashbox, storage, Style.com, Target, Tricks, and so much more.
I am going to give this one a 3.3. I like the navigation, and the content is somewhat unique from other fashion blogs. I really like the conversational style here. I also like how I am not swamped with advertising as I have been with previous fashion blogs (not necessarily for review, but on my own personal quest). I think this blog has a nice readership and could actually use a little bit of advertising if it wanted to monetize a little bit. I think some of the larger content pieces can be broken down into smaller posts to spread them out a little more. I also wouldn’t mind seeing more pictures, there are some on the main page currently, but when going through archives the blog gets a little dry viewing wise, not content. When a Prada bag is mentioned for example it wouldn’t hurt to induce other’s drool factors with a pic. Overall though, a very comprehensive fashion site that I wouldn’t mind seeing again.
