Animals Need Help - Blog Review

Those readers that share their love with a fur baby in their life will really enjoy reading the ‘Animals Need Help’ blog. This blog is exactly what it says it is, a blog about the prevention of animal cruelty. The owner of the blog is Stacy and has been looking for a way to help abused animals. So she created a blog to use as an educational resource for others on the topic of animal abuse. Stacy also uses her affiliate links with pet companies to raise money for organizations such as PETA and ASPCA, and all monies raised by her blog will go to support these organizations or a local animal shelter. You can get a good idea for Stacy’s commitment to this project by looking at any of her recent bloggeries: Animalsneedhelp.com wins the thinking blogger award, Why are there So Many Pets in Animal Shelters?, Educate our Children on Animal Cruelty, How Many Dogs Does it Take to Change a Light Bulb?, Stop Puppy Mills, 10 Ways to Help Stop Animal Cruelty, and Animals are Not Ours To Experiment on.

The blog is well organized with a clean template which makes navigation very easy. Bloggeries are in black text on white background and the blog is bordered in grey and has mossy green color theme in the rest of the blog. The blog is attractive and appealing and greets the reader with an adorable kitty picture in the header of the blog. Bloggeries are left marginalized and there is a right navigaton bar. In this navigation bar you will find a search button, disclaimer on the non-profit nature of the blog, advertising, blogroll, sponsors list, categories menu, feature pet, more advertising, and feed information. You will also find a handy top menu in the blog that contains the Home link, About page, Partners link, and Contact information. The categories menu is comprehensive and contains relevant links for topics in the blog: Animal Rights Education, Animal Shelters, Blogging Award, Guest Posts, Pet Education, Stop Animal Cruelty, Stop Puppy Mills, and What You Can do To Help. Right now I do not see an Archives Menu, and I do not see a Recent Posts Menu. I think a Recent Posts Menu or widget would really help the navigation of this blog.

Overall I give this blog a 4/5, as it is doing very well on blog criteria for what seems to be a new blog. The appearance of the blog is appealing with relevant pictures that add meaning to the blog content. Navigation is very easy on this blog so it scores well for that also. Content is well written with a strong personal voice that offers credibility for the blogger, and is also appealing enough that it would lead the reader to action which is the blogger’s intent. I think activity could use some consistency, as there is bloggeries coming in every day for a few days, but there are gaps of anywhere from a few days to a week or so in between posts. Regular updating will definitely bring this blogger more traffic. Overall however, I think this blogger is off to a great start and if she continues at this pace should see some regular traffic as the blog grows.

Life Through a Cats Eyes - Blog Review

If you are a cat lover and looking for a fun read, you may want to stop in and see how Ariel is doing at Life Through a Cat’s Eyes Blog. Ariel is a Torti kitty born on the 4th of July and author of her own blog. She is self-described as a diva kitty whose interests include bird watching, cuddles and headbuts, tuna fish, treats, sleeping, blogging, and all of her feline friends. Ariel is a very good writer, and it must be from her appreciation for the film and literary industries. Her favorite movies include Garfield, Aritocats, and Cats and Dogs, and she enjoys reading novels such as The Diary of a Killer Cat, The Postman Always Brings Mice, and Madam Pastry and Meow. You can catch a glimpse about what it must be like to be a cat in any of Ariel’s most recent bloggeries: The Diva’s Rules for the Mom, A Day at the Vet, Nose Twin, Boring Tiles, Dum Neighbors, A talk with Mom, The Middle Name Meme, Very Funny, My New Catster Friend, An Honest Mistake, Kitty Pirate Fun.

Navigation on the blog is very simple, and as Ariel has made it clear her life is as such, one wouldn’t expect otherwise. Bloggeries text actually varies in color from day to day, one day it is green, the next it is purple, but it suits the theme of the blog, and well, we know how finicky cats are anyway. Bloggeries are set on a white background with a pink border that emphasizes her diva nature. Each post also contains very cute pictures of Ariel, and if you are a cat lover, you will enjoy them. Bloggeries are left marginalized with a right navigation system as well. In the right navigation bar you will find the About Page, a variety of Blog Awards, a very impressive Blogroll, Recent Posts Menu, and Archives that go back to March of 2006.

I am going to give Ariel a 3.6/5 here. Her blog is doing very well, and she has made many fans and friends in the blogosphere and has quite an extensive readership. This is probably accomplished through her very active, daily posting that is witty, creative, and very well-written. The blog itself is of course a unique concept and she has utilized this uniqueness to gain a healthy readership in her niche. I think the navigation system which is very well managed could only be improved through a categories menu. And I think Ariel is creative enough to come up with some cute and appropriate categories – naptime, Vets, feeding time, and etc. This would organize the posts a little bit and her many readers would be able to navigate her journal a little bit easier. I also think Ariel may want to consider monetizing the blog with some advertising. I am not sure how many readers she has, but it is sizeable judging by her blogroll and her frequent comments she receives. She may want to consider this to offset the costs of her vet bills. Otherwise, Ariel’s blog scores very well on all other accounts and this blog is a definite recommend if you are a friend of the feline kingdom.

The Pug Dog Lover Blog - Bloggeries Review

Everyone knows a dog lover, and in fact, maybe you are one yourself. Either way, I can’t think of a single person that won’t love this blog. Meet Diango the Pug, he is the ‘owner’ of this Pug Blog and he lives in the Netherlands with his person whom he affectionately refers to as “The One Who Feeds Diango Every Day”. The blog is written from the first ‘dog’ perspective, and it is a collection of ramblings and thoughts that attempt to prove us ignorant humans wrong on the notion that a dog’s life is NOT as easy as we all make it. Some of Diango’s recent ramblings include “The Top 10 Celebrity/Dog Look Alikes” (STRIKING, really!), a post about the “New Button” on the site which is a reference to his self-nomination for a Blogger’s Choice Award, “What the….?!?”, “Upside Down Tagging”, “Herrings and Other Things”, and my personal favorite “My Sincere Apologies” where he forces “The One Who Feeds Diango Everyday” to post an official notification of absence. You will have to read about what happened to his whereabouts on this misshaped day yourself…..

Navigation on this site is very easy. On the right sided navigation bar you will find links to all of these recent posts, links to the home page, various pug forums, archives, and categories. The categories section is adorable and includes photo contests, Not pug related, it’s a pug’s life, daily pug stuff, other pug things, pug videos, and even an entire section dedicated to how Diango spends his weekends. You will also find a wealth of pug related sites and other pug blogs, so if you are a pug lover, you will have some fun resources to peruse here. The blog also offers many photos of Diango’s Daily Doings all of which are relevant, and very appropriate to the “This is my life” theme.

I am going with a 3.4 here. The site obviously has some readership and I think it can be spiced up a bit. Uniqueness and content need no improvement, I love this “blog from a pug’s point of view” concept and it definitely stands out amongst the many pet blogs out there. The AdSense I think can be incorporated a little differently into the layout. I think the layout could use some spicing up, perhaps some dog themed background or motif. I am not sure how extravagant “The Person Who Feeds Diango” wants to go with site design, but something like an inside look at Diango’s dog house or throw pillow or something would be a very cute background shot. Also I think the title could be changed on the header, off the top of my head, possibly something to the effect of my previously mentioned “Diango’s Daily Doings”. I also wouldn’t mind seeing more activity, and if I wouldn’t mind it, then I know the readership won’t either. Maybe a post on Diango’s Daily Drama or something like that. I love the concept of the blog and make these suggestions as I just hate to see something unique and original sit idling in cyberspace. With a little bit of spice I think this blog could do very well and catch on with many more pug lovers.
