ReviewWOW – Blog Review

rate4 ReviewWOW Blog ReviewIf you are one of those contest junkies that just can’t seem to get enough, you should really take some time to check out Reviewow – pronounced Review Wow. Like many blogs, started off as one thing and ended up as another. The author is very candid about his use of the blog which gives it a personal credible feel right off the start. The original intention of this blog was to post reviews, but this ended up being a blog on contests. The blogger joins contests hosted by other blogs and uses this blog as his ‘contest’ platform, but maintains his own personal blog elsewhere. You can see what kind of contests this blogger has been participating in through his most recent bloggeries: The Link Bait First Contest, blueJar Group Writing Project, Motorola Q Smartphone Giveaway, $250 Contest from NutsandMilk, Won $25 CAD – I Cool File Contest, Are you fooled by Ashwin Khanna?, and Arun’s Golden Egg Contest.

The blog is fairly new and has only been around since May 2007, so this makes it somewhat easy to navigate. In the top navigation bar you will find a Home Link, About Page, and Contact Information. You will find the posts are left marginalized with standard black text on white background and links are highlighted in orange. The header is a cute cow motif which you will see throughout the blog. In the right navigation system you will find an About page, Categories Menu, Archives Menu, Recent Comments Menu, and subscription information. If you go through the archives, you will find them very easy to navigate. This blogger has also added author links to the archive section so if there is a specific author you are looking for, it will be easy to find. Currently there is only one author on the docket, but as the blog grows I am sure you will see more links there. If you do happen to be one of those contest junkies, you can get your fix in any of the categories he offers: Contests, Contests Won, Free Links, Others, ReveiWOW News, Services, Softwares, and Websites.

I will go with a 3.6 for this one, for me it just seemed something was missing to offer it more points. The layout is standard but could probably use some pizzazz to get readers visits a little lengthier. Right now with the standard black text and odd picture, there is really nothing major jumping out at me. The posting is almost daily with a few days in between the odd posts. These updates are usually made up for on other days where sometimes 2 or 3 bloggeries will come in. I am not certain what the readership is here either, as this is a relatively new blog, but the comments menu looks fairly active so I think the blog would do well with some advertising or monetization. I also think adding a blogroll and getting some blog community going on the site would add to the appeal of the blog. The content is well done in a nice personal voice that works well with this type of niche. So I think this blog is definitely starting out on the right path and should see continued growth and success. Best of luck!

-The Free Grabber – Free Samples and Stuff! – Bloggeries Review

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

rate3 The Free Grabber Free Samples and Stuff! Bloggeries ReviewWhat would you think if I gave it to you FREE? Well, you would probably take it then, wouldn’t you? Wait a second, you don’t even know what I am talking about. In this day and age, it doesn’t really matter. The word FREE is one of the biggest marketing tools used today by many companies to get your attention. How does it work? They give you something free, make sure you fall in love with it, and get you as a customer. If you like FREE stuff, then you have to check out this blog: The Free Grabber!. This site is basically just a general site directing you to the companies that are offering free stuff. All posts come in the form of a FREE offer, and recent posts include things like “Free Blue Buffalo dog and cat food samples”, “Free Slider Tie”, “Free San Francisco Visitor’s Kit”, “Free Planet Heroes DVD from Fisher Price”, “Free Sample Whiskas Purrfectly Fish”, “Free Sample of Calgon Juicy Scents”, “Free Golf Tees“, “Free St. Ives Healthy Brilliance Sample”, and “Free Sample of Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners”, and “Free ID Lubricant Sample”.

Navigation on this site is very easy. There isn’t that much to the site outside of free offers. There is a category section on the right-handed navigation bar so if you want specific free product, you can check out the Books and Magazines, Entertainment, Everything Else, Food and Drinks, Health and Beauty, Household, Pet Stuff, and Walmart Freebies. The rest of the right handed bar is pretty much just AdSense and advertising. I do like how there are relevant pictures in every post, and also that the navigation bar has content, even though it is advertising, right to the bottom of the page where most blogs find it difficult to fill up that very bottom space on the right side.

I will still give this one a 3. It didn’t feel really bloggy to me, the content offered what it was supposed to but I didn’t get any of that person-to-person feel that you should be getting from a blog. The post content actually looks a little cut and paste from manufacturer’s websites. I think the layout is nice, and suitable for the blog theme. The posts are pretty heavy though. With several going on a day, weeding through it to get to blog content is a challenge. I do appreciate the theme of the blog, everyone wants to find free stuff, but I would like to see some more meat on this page content wise. Otherwise just a website on freebies would serve the same effect.

The Prize Blog – Ultimate in Prizes – Contests – Sweepstakes and Freebies – Blog Review

rate4 The Prize Blog Ultimate in Prizes Contests Sweepstakes and Freebies Blog ReviewEveryone probably has at least one friend that is a contest or sweepstakes junkie. Perhaps that person is you. If so, take a minute to check out “The Prize Blog – A Free Updated List of Contests, Sweepstakes and Prizes!” Here you will find a free updated list of contests, games, and prizes available online. The site also offers a review of different gaming sites providing them with letter grades. The owner of this site, Brian Aldrich, started this site only a few months ago, to provide you with the best sweepstakes site the Internet can offer. There really is a sweepstakes for everyone here, you will find contests on everything from kitchen appliances to brand new 2007 vehicles. Each post represents a different sweepstakes or contest. On the opening page you will find posts and contests like, “Ben & Jerry’s Eco Excursion Sweepstake”, “Redbook Intimate Moments Sweepstakes”, HGTV’s Big Backyard Splash Sweepstakes”, “Lamps Plus Win a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid”, and even a sweepstakes of their own “The Prize Blog and MyBlogLog Giveaway”. Other reviewers have said this blog is “attractive and interesting…really fun” and have stated it as the blog with all the “best online competitions available” . If you look around, you will see why this blog has received such excellent recognition during its very short time on the Internet.

Navigation on this site is very easy and straightforward. In fact, the site is so professionally laid out that it is almost hard to see it is a blog. There are two navigation bars, left and right, and a top navigation bar as well. Each bar offers different links, so you can see very quickly that this site has a lot to offer. On the left bar, you can check out some other contest bloggers like Contest Girl, and Grandma Jam. In the right you can read recent comments or go over some of the blog’s site reviews where it reviews some online gaming sites and easy cash programs. You will also find in this bar sweepstakes and contests links, and an opportunity to donate to the site if you wish to do so. At the top is standard site administration such as site map, FAQ, forum, contact info, about page, tools menu, and even a link exchange. Overall this site is laid out in a very clear cut manner, and if you are a sweepstakes kind of person, you should find yourself having a lot of fun here.

I am going with a 4 for this one which gives credence to how good this site is considering it is only a few months old. The site gets top notch marks for navigation and appearance with its very professional layout. Other reviewers have said in reference to its layout “If only my own company would have an awesome page like that.” And I have to agree, it is very user friendly and the overall appeal is nothing but professional. Content and activity scores are high also as the sweepstakes and contests are very diverse, and the posts are short and to the point. Uniqueness points are well earned due to the varied nature of the contests, gaming sites, and the overall concept of the blog itself. The few recommendations I would have would be to install more AdSense or advertising as a means of generating revenue, as opposed to the donation link. I think the appeal of the site is that it offers free stuff, and the donation link may distract from that goal; also the ads from adsense will probably be targetted to prizes contests and sweepstakes anyways so it should be easy to get people clicking. The site could use some more readers, but given its youth, I doubt once word gets out that would take very long. Should it establish a larger audience, that forum will grow a little bit and Brian could see some monetization from AdSense or other advertising means. If you like to enjoy contests, get in there while the readership is young, you just never know what you may end up winning. Good luck!
