Bloggeries.com is looking at a different type of blog today. Amanita.net is obviously a personal blog, but it took a little more digging to find out what exactly Amanita.net writes about. It’s kind of a mix of things… The blog is written by ‘Meredith’ and is only half used to write about her personal life. The other half contains entries with links to a variety of different websites. More often than not, you will find you have never heard of any of them. A lot of links are very interesting, and different, and you will probably find yourself amused with most of them. (Did you know there is a JFK Shooting Game?)
So let’s get down to the other aspects of this blog. First let’s discuss the layout of the blog. In my opinion, this is a very nice styled blog. The color scheme is very comfortable. The layout doesn’t go off the page (meaning you don’t have to scroll to the left to see the other half of the page). As in a typical blog, there are some side features to the left and right of the central blogging area. Amanita.net has it so that each feature is divided up into separate sections. They are labeled clearly, making each feature noticeable and nicely accessible. Organization is extremely important in making readers happy, and this blogs got it.
Content is great. New bloggeries are posted daily if not more and are usually quite interesting! The posts are original, which keeps readers coming back for more and are one of the best indicators of a quality blog. I go to blogs to read something new from someones perspective and she delivers. The only real downside to this blog is that there is a slow loading time for everything. I am sure Meredith is getting that fixed though!
So let’s see how Amanita.net adds up shall we? There are five aspects Bloggeries.com looks for when rating a blog. Fortunately, Amanita happens to ace almost every one of them. 4.6 / 5 for Amanita.net. The only recommendations I would suggest are that the blog comes up with a more appropriate title that could help describe the blog better and bring in visitors when they do searches. Meredith could also make a logo of some sort for the title or at the very least change the font up a bit in the header to give it a bit of a personal flair and a less genric feel.
