Welcome to Bloggeries Blogging Articles and Tutorials
Basic Blog Promotion and Marketing The first step in blogging effectively is simply to set the blog up. Now that you have begun to post useful and relevant information for your niche or industry, you may be wondering why you are not receiving many comments, or why your readership numbers are simply refusing to increase. Blog promotion is a necessary part of the process, just like any website requires promotion in order to gain popularity. If you want to drive new traffic to your site, consider at least some of the following steps which will help to drive new viewers to your website. 1. Set up a subscription form for Bloglet on your blog website, inviting everyone within your network to subscribe. This is a great way to gain readership from family, friends, clients, colleagues and other associates. You can find more information about Bloglet on www.Bloglet.com 2. Set up a MyYahoo feed so that the Yahoo search engine will spider your blog regularly. You can set a feed up on www.MyYahoo.com, and can find more information on www.BizTipsBlog.com. 3. View other blogs within your target niche or industry, and comment on these blog entries. If you write comments that are intelligent and useful, there is no harm in also linking to your blog to gain readership. You may even impress these blog owners enough that they will link to your blog for you. 4. Utilize the 'Ping-o-Matic' tool to ping different blog directories. You should do this every time you publish a new blog entry. You should visit www.pingomatic.com for more information on this. 5. Submit your blog to a few well established and respectable general web directories under “blogs’. 6. You should submit your blog to various blog directories and search engines designated for blogs like www.Technorati.com and www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/. 7. Put a link to your blog in the signature file of your e-mail, so that whenever you send an e-mail you are also advertising your blog. 8. Put a link to your blog on every single page of your website. This way, visitors to your website are bound to see the link at least once or twice. 9. Do you publish a newsletter? You should make sure that there is a link to your blog on every single page of your newsletter, especially if you use your blog to post back issues of said newsletter. 10. Make sure that all outgoing correspondence includes a link to your blog, including auto responder sequences, white papers, sales letters and reports. You may also want to put a link to your blog on your business cards. 11. Print the URL of your blog on all printed media, including letter heads, flyers, brochures and business cards. 12. Add capability for an RSS feed to your blog, so that readers can subscribe to your blog. RSS stands for either Rich Site Summary, or Really Simple Syndication. What RSS does, is it allows people to subscribe to your website so that they can keep track of any changes or updates to your blog without having to visit every day to find updates themselves. RSS feeds can be set up to show either simply headlines, or headlines and summaries for new content. One of the best places to visit for information is www.FeedBurner.com. 13. Post as often as you can, so that you can continue attracting subscribers back to your blog over and over. The more content that you provide, the more likely your subscribers are to refer your blog to other people in their networks. You should also include links to other articles, websites and blogs within your posts to create a network around your blog. 14. When you quote other blog posts, or refer to other blog posts, you should use Trackback links. Trackback links send a message from one server to another, letting the second server know that its post has been referenced. What this does is puts a link to your blog on their site, typically bringing more readership to both blogs in the process. 15. Write articles for syndication on the web. There are plenty of article directories which allow easy submission, and if your article is relevant to the topic of your blog and contains a link to your blog in the author biography box, you are sure to attract new readers to your blog website. 16. Commit to your blog every single day. If you spend ten minutes on your blog every day, you can significantly increase the amount of traffic that it receives. New content attracts search engine spiders, which attract new readers, so do not forget to write in your blog on a daily basis. Copyright Bloggeries 2005-2007. All rights reserved. |
